Monday

In this session, Fiona will guide us in gently releasing and strengthening the upper body, lower body, low back, neck, hands and wrists, stabilize and restore equilibrium and alignment. This class is perfect for seniors or people with a disability, participants can be on a yoga mat or seated in a chair. Through a strategically designed mix of wellness-based modalities, together we will put you back in the driver's seat in your life, hold space for you to identify fears and self-doubt, find your inner joy and peace you so you can live the life you choose. We end the session with a soft Savasana meditation session.

Play skills are essential for us all to practice every day. Research indicates that play is associated with improved social and communication skills and promotes improved physical and mental health. There are many obvious academic skills involved in games. Take counting, for example: roll the dice, read your number, and move that many spaces—the easy practice of numeral recognition, but it goes so much deeper than that. Join us each week as we discover playing games improves memory and cognitive skills, increases processing speed, develops logic and reasoning, improves critical thinking, boosts spatial reasoning, improves verbal and communication skills, increases attention and concentration, teaches problem-solving, and develops confidence and social skills!

Drumsticks pounded on gym floors, clinked overhead and bounced on exercise balls. Join us for a fun-filled afternoon of rhythm and sound! A drumming-based fitness program that combines music, dance and rhythm. Use drumsticks to rock out while working out! • Each participant will be provided with an exercise ball, bucket and drumsticks for the duration of this session. • Full disclosure this is not a quiet activity but so much fun!

The Deal: Each table will facilitate four competitors. The entire deck will be delt to all four players, giving each 13 cards. Each player will separate their cards in four piles, representing each Suit. The Play: From a separate deck of cards, the "Caller" will select a card, one at a time, and call out the rank and suit of the card - for example "queen of hearts." The player with the called card turns it face down. The first player to turn all their cards face down wins the prize.

Bingo is most certainly largely a game of luck, but that doesn't stop a feeling of competitiveness during the game and a sense of pride after a win. It's an engaging and fun game that can be competitive in a fun way, knowing skill has very little to do with the outcome. Let’s get one thing straight – bingo is not a boring game. It’s an exciting and unpredictable game that will get your heart racing every time a new ball is about to be drawn. -Virtual prize winners will be given prize when arrangements have been made for pick up/drop off.

Ten-pin bowling is a competitive sport in which a player (the "bowler") rolls a bowling ball down a wooden or synthetic lane with the objective of scoring points by knocking down as many pins as possible. It is among the most popular to people with disabilities, as well, for many seniors, irrespective of their age or sports abilities, since it ensures physical exercise and at the same time participation and social integration. Plus, it's great fun! Join us each week at The Bowling Depot (Meet us there or hop on our bus) as we compete against friends and knock as many pins down as you can, get your game face on!

Sports can be a useful tool to help develop physical and motor skills as coordination, strength, and body awareness.

Taekwondo can help with many struggles that are common among people on the spectrum and provides a constructive outlet to help them express themselves through physical activity. The focus and concentration that is required can also help curb “stimming” behaviours. Encouraging attention and self-control, which can be particularly helpful with ASD.

Let’s build communication skills, at our own paste. We will practice and practice without being judged until we can say different words and put those together, helping in different environments like home, friends and relationships with people.
